The fabulous Northfield Beach is set to return to the high street in July – and this year organisers need YOUR help!

Seven years of summer fun in the sun (or rain!)

This year will be the eighth year an urban beach has been brought to Northfield. With some local families unable to take their children overseas or to the coast, the event brings an authentic sand-between-the-toes experience to everyone – for FREE.

School (bus) is out!

Usually on Prices Square in the centre of Northfield, the big yellow school bus is a familiar sight at the beginning of the school holidays, marking the location of the beach!

As well as the beach, each year the event provides a programme of entertainment – from live music, dinosaurs, robots, dancing, Punch & Judy and more – alongside arts activities, facepainting and community information.

Each day usually has a theme, with past themes including Reggae at the Beach, Jurassic Beach, Mumbai Friday, Science Day, Northstock, Pirate Day and Back to the Forties Day.

Funding

Every year the event is funded through funding grant applications and local business contributions, sourced by the organisers. The ethos of ensuring a free event is key – meaning everyone, no matter their means, gets the opportunity to attend and share in this amazing, fully inclusive community event.

With this in mind, organisers Northfield Community Partnership are asking for those who can afford to donate to a crowdfunder to part fund this year’s event.

The crowdfunder is hoping to raise up to £10,000 to support the return of the beach. If you can and would like to support, please visit the Northfield Beach 2019 Crowdfunder page.
