Action Fraud, the national fraud & cyber crime reporting centre, have issued a scam alert after receiving reports of fake Virgin Media emails landing in people’s inboxes.
The organisation says it has received over 100 reports about fake emails, purporting to be from Virgin Media.
Emails say that the recipient has “invalid billing information” and threatens them with “automatic disconnection” unless they update their details.
Links in the emails lead to phishing websites, which look genuine, but are designed to steal account login details.
Action Fraud advise: “Don’t click on the links or attachments in suspicious emails, and never respond to messages that ask for your personal or financial details.”
