The family of an 18 year old who died after being stabbed in Harborne on Wednesday evening (24th April) have paid tribute to their “beautiful baby boy”.
Jordan Moazami from Quinton suffered serious injuries in Tennal Road at around 7.15pm. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
‘Sleep tight’
In tribute to Jordan, who was a keen footballer and boxer, his family said: “Our beautiful baby boy. There’s a piece of us that’s gone and that can never be replaced.
“We love you so much. Sleep tight.”
Investigation
West Midlands Police detectives investigating the murder have been given extra time to question a 19 year old man who was arrest on Wednesday.
A post mortem is due to take place today (Saturday 27 April) and officers are still keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who have not yet come forward.
Detective Inspector Michelle Allen, from the force’s Homicide team, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Jordan who are understandably devastated by his tragic and untimely death. We are doing all we can to support them at this incredibly distressing time.
“We are working round the clock to establish exactly what happened on Wednesday night.
“I would urge anyone who has any information, however insignificant they feel it may be, to come forward as it could assist us in getting to the core of what went on.”
Knife crime
Increased police patrols have been taking place in the area following the incident.
On Thursday, new crime statistics released by the Office of National Statistics demonstrated a 17% rise in annual crimes involving a knife in the West Midlands last year, meaning recorded knife crimes in the force area have more than doubled since 2012/13. Read more
