Firefighters are appealing for the return of equipment after a 4×4 was stranded in the River Rea at Northfield earlier this week.
The Land Rover became stuck in the river near the The Mill Walk ford on Tuesday afternoon after heavy rain caused water levels on the River Rea to rise.
The incident was attended by emergency services, including West Midlands Fire Service technical rescue and West Midlands Ambulance Service’s Hazardous Area Response Team.
The occupants’ safety was ensured and the vehicle was secured until it was safe to return and remove it from the river after water levels dropped. The motorist was advised against recovering the vehicle.
However, the vehicle was removed within hours and now firefighters are appealing for the return of a line which was used to secure the vehicle.
On Wednesday, the incident commander tweeted asking for the line to be returned.
The line has still not been returned and a representative of Northfield Fire Station said: “It was used to rescue the Defender that was stuck in the River Rea during the floods earlier in the week.
“There will be a cost for us to replace it, so if whoever used it could drop it back to the station we would be really grateful.”
Videos of a similar Land Rover driving backwards through flood water on Longbridge Lane earlier on Tuesday was posted on social media.
