The family of a big-hearted Bartley Green man are seeking three young hitchhikers he helped thirty years ago.

The two men and a woman aged around 20 were attempting to hitch a lift at West Bromwich island one evening in 1990. Caught in heavy rain and soaked to the skin, they were picked up by Jack Stone.
Irish by birth, generous Jack took the trio – believed to have been making their way to Glastonbury Festival – to his Bartley Green home.
Jack fed them, washed and dried their clothes and – after a good night’s sleep – dropped them at Frankley Services on the M5 to continue their journey.

Having recently passed away, Jack’s family have been remembering and celebrating his life of kindness and would love to know what happened to the people he helped over the years – in particular, this trio, who Jack always hoped made it safely to Glastonbury!
Daughter Jackie said: “My dad was always bringing people who needed looking after home. These are the only ones that we know [the details of] where he met them.
“He always wondered what happened to all he helped. We thought if we could find these three, they might have a memory of our dad that we don’t, at the same time knowing what became of them.”
