Winnie Cookson from Northfield was not going to let her own health issues stop her from thanking key workers in her own special way during last night’s #ClapForOurCarers (Thursday 2nd April).
The spritely 82 year old suffered from various health conditions and was in hospital herself less than a week ago, following a minor heart attack.
Winnie’s granddaughter Sophie said, despite her ill health, her gran wanted to go to the door to show thanks and applaud “the most amazing NHS staff” who cared for her.
And, not one to do things by halves, Winnie took the opportunity to show off some of her dance moves!
Proud Sophie said her gran is her inspiration and had the whole street joining in.
She said: “I put on some music to lift the morale of the street, then next thing I know, she’s dancing and showing off her high kicks! I’m so lucky to have this woman in my life!”
She said that Winnie had been to dance classes and did some ballet when she was younger, but developed her flexibility mostly from self taught acrobatics.
“I think she would still attempt the splits if we would let her!” she added.
