West Midlands Police are investigating after a serious collision in the Woodgate area of Bartley Green last night (Sunday 13th June).

The driver of a Mercedes reportedly left the scene — leaving three passengers injured — after the car overturned and collided with a bus stop in Woodgate Lane just before 9pm.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said this morning (Monday 14th June): “On arrival, crews discovered a single car that had suffered significant damage after overturning and colliding with a bus stop, resulting in three male patients, all of whom were from the car.

“Two of the patients were treated for serious injuries before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, on blue lights and sirens. The third patient was treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken to the same hospital.”

Later today, a West Midlands Police spokesperson confirmed that: “One man suffered a serious back injury, another has a fracture and the other is not seriously hurt.”

The spokesperson added: “Enquiries are under way to identify the driver and the car has been seized. We’ve recovered CCTV for examination to understand what happened in the build up to the crash.”

Anyone who witnessed the crash or the driver making off is urged to contact West Midlands Police on Live Chat at www.west-midlands.police.uk (8am – midnight) or to call 101 any time. Please quote log 3892 from 13/6.
