An adventurous peahen has been safely secured by a local rescue charity from the grounds of Turves Green Primary School.

The magestic bird caused quite a stir as she was spotted by many, roaming around the gardens and school grounds of south west Birmingham over the last few weeks. Residents were worried for her safety, fearing she could be hurt in traffic or attacked by a fox.
Enticed by the tasty plants and vegetables planted by the green fingered pupils of Turves Green Primary School, the peahen took up residence on site in Monday (28th June).
School staff turned to Hollytrees Animal Rescue Trust in Wythall for advice and the Head of School and Site Manager managed to secure the lovely lady this morning (Wednesday 30th June).

She has now been safely collected by Hollytrees founder Ray Dedicoat and is being cared for until she can be rehoused in a permanent home.
A school spokesperson said: “Whilst we have all enjoyed our visit from the Peahen and are a little sad to see her go, we are happy in the knowledge that she will be well looked after by experts.”
A huge well done to all involved in keeping this magnificent lady safe!
