Neighbourhood officers from the Selly Oak police team are asking people to take join in their ‘Selfie Scavenger Hunt’ and Community Fun Day to help raise funds to improve community safety in the ward.

Win a TV or Kindle

Anyone can take part (for an entry fee of £5) and there are great prizes – the winner will receive a brand new 32″ TV and the runner-up will win an Amazon Kindle Touch.

Following a week of selfie challenges, which will be announced on the @sellyoakpolice Twitter account daily between Monday 22nd and Friday 26th May, winners will be drawn at random at a Community Fun Day next Saturday (27th May) outside Elim Church.

Visitors to the fun day will be able to see vintage police vehicles and items from the West Midlands Police museum, have their face painted, take part in a prize raffle as well as get food and refreshments and more.

Supporting a safer community

All proceeds from the ‘Selfie Scavenger Hunt’ and Community Fun Day will be going to the Bournbrook Community Safety Project. This registered charity makes a practical difference to the lives of local people through such things as house security, alley-gating schemes and taking care of the most vulnerable of residents who live within the Selly Oak area.

Every year the manager of the project, Barry Toon, works tirelessly to ensure the Selly Oak community feel safe in their own homes. However, with limited funding this is becoming increasingly difficult.
