A lorry driver has escaped serious injury after his lorry overturned after being involved in a collision with a bus in Longbridge Lane this morning (Wednesday 12th October).

Following the collision with a National Express WM double decker at just after 10.30am, the 7.5 tonne truck ended up on its side in the access road by Edwards Plumbing.

The 28 year old lorry driver had managed to get himself out of his cab by the time emergency services arrived at the scene.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that they tended 3 casualties.

The lorry driver and one bus passenger were checked over and discharged at the scene. The 59 year old male bus driver was taken to hospital for assessment.

Paramedics remained in attendance until fire crews from Northfield and Kings Norton fire stations, together with the West Midlands Fire Service Technical Rescue Team, could confirm that there were no further casualties under the lorry.

Firefighters then worked to right the truck using airbags and a winch so that the vehicle could be recovered from the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the accident and who has not already done so, can call West Midlands Police on 101 with any information.
