The victim of the attack is currently recovering in hospital. The police investigation continues, including scouring CCTV footage.
A 31 year old man is in a serious condition in hospital this morning after being stabbed in the chest by a car thief as he went to drive away his parked car last night (Friday 20th October).
The man, from Bromsgrove, was stabbed by his attacker – thought to be wearing a black puffer style jacket – just before 8pm in Knighton Road, opposite Manor Vets in Bunbury Road, where there was also a police presence.
The man was about to drive off when the offender opened the driver’s door and attacked him before driving off in the victim’s silver VW Golf GTi.
The road remained closed for several hours until forensic investigators had examined the scene.
Serious but stable
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said the the man: “has been stabilised in hospital where his condition is described as serious but is not feared to be life threatening.”
Manor Vets was closed this morning “due to a serious incident”.
Detective Inspector Chris Fox said: “We are working to build up a clearer picture of what happened – but at this stage we believe the victim was approached and stabbed by a man wearing a black puffa-style coat.
“Bunbury Road is a busy thoroughfare and I’m sure there are plenty of potential witnesses who have either seen the attack – and perhaps not realised how serious it was – or have seen the silver VW Golf being driven away.
“I need people who were in Bunbury Road at around 7.45pm last night to get in touch as they might have seen something important.”
