A Northfield street was cordoned off yesterday after police received a 999 call reporting a suspected gun shot.
Armed police attended Tarragon Gardens at around 1.20pm on Sunday 31st December.
A 19-year-old local man was arrested at the scene as officers searched the area for evidence.
A police spokesman said: “It’s understood the firearm involved was a shotgun; there are no reports of any injuries or any property being damaged.”
The man remains in police custody today on suspicion of possessing of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
