A West Midlands Fire Service firefighter – well known for his commitment to community work – has received his 25 year service award.

Adrian Lyndon is based at Northfield Fire Station and over the years has worked with young people, ex-offenders and the vulnerable in our communities, promoting community safety.

As well as being an active firefighter, Adrian is a key mentor and role model to young people in the area in particular and works on projects such as West Midlands Fire Service’s youth development project, Aurora.

He is currently part of the team working on the Inspired Choices program with a group of boys from Balaam Wood School in Frankley.

The program sees West Midlands Police and Fire Services and other community partners working together to give the lads an opportunity to learn about better communication, team building, community safety and good life choices.

Northfield Station Commander Lee Baker said: “Adrian works tirelessly on youth work and supporting those with complex needs, to improve lives.”

Congratulations, Ade, and thanks for your service and inspiration to many!
