Two men have been arrested following an explosion at a fast food shop in Kings Heath High Street last night (Friday 31st March).
Emergency services – including West Midlands Fire Service, West Midlands Ambulance Service (including the Hazardous Area Response Team) and West Midlands Police – attended the scene at Dixy Chicken in Alcester Road South at around 11.30pm.
The incident was reported at the time as a suspected gas explosion, with the front of the shop blown off onto the pavement.
The shop has not been open for a couple of weeks and no injuries were reported.
However, two men – aged 26 and 28 – were arrested early this morning (Saturday 1st April) after self-presenting at hospital with minor burn injuries. Both have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson.
