A Northfield minister who has been an active community voice and advocate for several years has announced he will be leaving the city this summer.
Rev Dave Tubby has been the minister at Northfield Baptist Church in Bristol Road South for 5 years.
As well as supporting the congregation of his church, Dave has actively – and vocally – supported many others in the wider community.
As part of Northfield Churches Together, Dave has worked with other church leaders to provide support for those of all faiths.
Dave has built up exceptional links, especially on the high street, supporting Northfield Community Partnership and Northfield Business Improvement District (BID).

He is currently serving as chair of the Northfield Stakeholders’ Group, which has been instrumental in bringing together community groups and stakeholders from across the wider Northfield constituency (Frankley, Longbridge, West Heath, Kings Norton, Weoley). Dave played a key role in negotiating the use of council owned offices over shops in Prices Square as a community hub.
Dave was also Chair of Governors at Bellfield Junior School for some time.
He has been outspoken about local issues and has regularly appeared in the media, always trying to promote a balanced and positive view of Northfield and surrounding areas.
When tragedy and grief has struck in our communities, Dave has always been quick to contact us to offer a shoulder of support to those in need, regardless of faith.
He’s been a great supporter of B31 Voices – and at times even contributed himself! WATCH Dave interview 105 year old Nell below!
In a statement on the Baptist Church facebook page, Dave wrote: “I have to say it is with a real mixture of emotion that I share this news. The church and community in Northfield have left us with lifelong friends who we will be very sad to leave behind, and we have been privileged to see God doing some amazing things in the church and community.”
Rev Tubby and his family will leave their West Heath home in July to start their new chapter in Newcastle.
On behalf of the community of Northfield, we thank Dave for his commitment, support, inclusiveness and enthusiasm and wish him and his family all the best for the future.
Dave is also renowned for his silly seasonal selfies! ;)
