West Midlands Police have confirmed that a fourth arrest – of a boy just 12 years old – was made at the weekend in relation to the assault of a teenage girl in Weoley Castle last week.
The violent attack on a 15 year old girl by a group of youths took place in Inglemere Grove, off Shenley Lane, in Weoley Castle at around 7pm on Wednesday (25th April).
The following day, footage of the incident was widely shared on social media, showing a group of other teens repeatedly kicking and punching the girl, including in the face and head, while recording on mobile phones.
Police arrested two girls (15 and 16) and a boy (13) on Thursday 26th April. The trio were charged with attempting to cause grevious bodily harm and appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Saturday (28th April). The 16-year-old was remanded and the other two bailed for a further appearance today.
The 12 year old boy was arrested on Saturday and has since been released on bail, pending further enquiries by police.
West Midlands Police said that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the assault.
