Bartley Green and Quinton neighbourhood police teams are appealing for members of the public to unite with them to tackle knife crime – by joining a community weapons sweep tomorrow (Wednesday 20th June).
Local police officers will be carrying out searches of three public spaces for hidden weapons during the afternoon and local residents are being asked to take part.
The sweeps are being carried out as part of a ‘Bin the Blade’ campaign by local officers, in a bid to get more weapons off our streets.
PCSOs Moore and Henry from Harborne neighbourhood team carried out a sweep in Sandon Road today (Tuesday 19th), with help from the local community. Knives were recovered and have now been disposed of.

Edgbaston constituency Inspector Lee Trinder said he hopes that residents will join with the police on these sweeps to show unity against knife crime.
He said: “I really would like to see a wide community response to this issue. It’s all our responsibilities to keep the community safe. Let’s come together on this one.”
If you have a spare half an hour tomorrow afternoon, pop along to one of the sweeps and help keep our communities safe by lending your eyes to the search!
