Emergency services flooded a Weoley Castle street after a man – wanted in relation to an earlier call – was found on the roof of a house late last night (Sunday 1st July).
West Midlands Police were originally called at around 6.30pm to reports that a man with a weapon had been making threats.
The suspect – a 34 year old man – was found on a roof in Jervoise Road several hours later, at around midnight.
A West Midlands Fire Service crew and West Midlands Ambulance Service HART (Hazardous Area Response Team) were on standby at the scene while police negotiators tried to talk the man down.
The man came down from the roof at around 2am and was arrested on suspicion of assault. He remains in police custody this morning.
