A man remains in a “serious but stable condition” in hospital this morning after being shot in an incident in the Walkers Heath / Pool Farm area of Kings Norton last night (Monday 3rd September).
West Midlands Police received calls that a man had been shot at just after 10pm. The 29 year old man managed to make it to safety and was found by officers in Bells Lane, Druids Heath.
Police & paramedics treat injured man
Officers tended to the man’s injuries – a single gunshot wound to the abdomen – until West Midlands Ambulance Service colleagues arrives at the scene.
Shortly after the shooting, Chief Inspector Jack Hadley tweeted: “[…]priority has been to safeguard the victim. He was expertly treated by our [firearms] officers until ambulance staff arrived. Enquiries now ongoing to find the offenders.”
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called to the junction of Bells Lane and Brockworth Road in the Walkers Heath area of Birmingham at 10.08pm on Monday evening.
“We sent an ambulance, paramedic officer and a Merit Trauma Doctor and Critical Care Paramedic after reports of an assault.”
Ambulance staff treated the man at the scene before taking him to hospital, where e remains in a ‘serious but stable’ condition this morning following surgery.
Officers abused by crowd in Greaves Square
Shortly afterwards, a large police presence appeared in Greaves Square, where officers placed a cordon. According to officers, a large crowd gathered and hurled abuse at officers.
An officer tweeted: “I suppose a thank you is in order to the large crowd who came out to hurl abuse at us whilst we carried out a premises tactic in #druidsheath earlier. Your noise roused the suspects who came out to investigate. They were then arrested. You saved us a lot of time and effort.”
Birmingham West Neighbourhood Policing Superintendent Mat Shaer responded: “Those who participated in this disgraceful behaviour do not represent the majority… most will eventually grow up to understand that.”
Three arrests made
Police confirmed that three men – aged 18, 20 and 22 – have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody awaiting questioning.

The investigation remains ongoing and officers are still in the area this morning collecting forensic evidence, CCTV and conducting house to house enquiries.
