A fifth man has been arrested and charged in relation to a rogue trader scam that conned elderly victims out of almost £60,000 after a police appeal to find him

Brothers Errol and Timmy Flynn, along with Steven Craven and Karl Bean, were jailed by Birmingham Crown Court on 18th September for their part in the scam on elderly victims from two addresses – one in Northfield and one in Selly Oak.

After failing to answer his bail conditions, Steven Craven’s brother Brian Williams-Craven was sought over the fraud that saw a Northfield couple tricked into handing over almost £25,000 for bogus roof repairs in July 2016.

The 49-year-old was arrested on Tuesday morning (2 October) from an address in Birmingham and has now been charged with fraud by false representation and failing to answer bail.

He is set to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning (3 October).

West Midlands Police thank the public for helping to find Williams-Craven on their Facebook page. They said: “We really appreciate all the support you give us when we’re trying to locate crime suspects. Thanks!”
