It is likely that road closures will affect the morning commute on Tuesday (30th October). We will update when we can.

Road closures as of 5.20am on Tuesday:

A38 Bristol Road NOW OPEN (1 lane) between Aston Webb Boulevard & Edgbaston Park Road, by the university gates.
Edgbaston Park Road & Church Road, Edgbaston CLOSED near The Vale village and lake

A major route linking south west Birmingham to the city centre was closed last night (Monday 29th October) after water from a burst main flooded the carriageway.

A burst water main flooded the A38 Bristol Road in Selly Oak at around 10pm, closing the route between Edgbaston Park Road and Aston Webb Boulevard.

Residents in nearby Arley Road, adjacent to Bristol Road, found their cars flooded and wheelie bins floating in the street.

Severn Trent isolated the leak which left an estimated 140,000 across the B13, B14, B15, B29 and B30 postcode areas affected by loss of water supplies. Severn Trent said all supplies were restored by 1.30am.

A second leak in Calthorpe Road, Edgbaston at around 3am caused further extensive flooding in Edgbaston Park Road but no disruption to supplies.

Engineers from Severn Trent remain on site.

It is likely that road closures will affect the morning commute on Tuesday (30th October). We will update when we can.
