West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was sadly killed in a collision with traffic on the M5 motorway in the early hours of this morning (Saturday 3rd November).
The incident happened between 1.45 and 2am when a male in his late 50s suffered fatal injuries after being struck by on-coming traffic close to Frankley Services.
The M5 remained closed for several hours in both directions between Junction 3 Halesowen / Quinton and Junction 4 Lydiate Ash while investigators examined the scene. Illey Lane, which crosses over the motorway, was also closed for a time. All routes were fully reopened by 8.30am.
Now, officers are appealing for anyone travelling north or south on the M5 close to Frankley Services around the time of the incident to get in contact.
Inspector Russ Barker said: “The M5 is a central route for people travelling across the country and we’re keen to speak to anyone who was on the stretch of the motorway between junction 3 and 4 near to Frankley Services early this morning.”
