Two people were arrested and two children were taken to hospital after a collision in Rednal yesterday (Sunday 18th November).
West Midlands Police received an emergency call from an off-duty police officer at 5.15pm. The officer reported that a Ford Fiesta had collided with parked cars in Lickey Road, close to the Edgewood Road junction.
Witnesses reported that a man and a woman were in the car, along with two small children.
A police spokesman said that the man, 46, was detained at the scene.
It is believed that the woman, 40, left the scene carrying one of the children. She was detained shortly afterwards at a nearby address.
West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that they attended the accident, sending two ambulances and a paramedic officer.
A spokesman confirmed: “An adult man and woman were uninjured. We treated two children – one boy, one girl. The girl had potentially serious injuries. The boy had less serious injuries.”
Updating on the status of the children today, a police spokesman said: “Both children were taken to hospital for scans; they were kept in overnight for observations but are not understood to be seriously hurt.”
Both the man and the woman have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and drink driving as officers continue to investigate to confirm who was driving the car.
