West Midlands Mayor Andy Street will open an upcoming skills show in Frankley, hosted by Cllr Simon Morrall (Con, Frankley Great Park).

The Frankley Skills Show will provide a chance for all in the ward pop along and find out more about opportunities in employment skills, jobs, training and life skills.

From Cllr Simon Morrall (Con, Frankley Great Park):

During my election campaign, I wrote how I was never taught in school how to start a business, how to file a tax return, or how to stand on my own two feet. I had to learn all of this on my own.

“Today I see young people reverting to either a life of crime, or recluse away to a life trapped away in a bedroom, checking out of society. Many of our young people don’t have a purpose, they simply exist and it feels like the mainstream establishment are completely out of touch on this issue.”

I promised that I would make it my duty, to work with businesses, schools and community organisations to provide the right tools, services and support to help everyone in our community receive the life skills they require to get on in life.

Well, after months of hard work I am thrilled to finally be able to announce:

The Frankley Skills Show is here!

Whether it’s art, music, hair and beauty, the armed forces, police, public sector, business and entrepreneurship, life skills, money advice, apprenticeships, digital skills, fostering, and much more.

We’re inviting a variety of organisations to cater for everyones taste and skill sets.

We will also be showcasing a jobs wall, so if you run a local business and would like to help the local community, please come along to share your opportunities.

The local Parish council are invited and Cllr Simon Morrall will also be on site to answer any residential queries, plus of course the Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street, will be opening the event.

It’s all right here on your doorstep. So no excuses, put the date in your diary and this new year, come and find your future, at The Frankley Skills Show!
