Cock Hill Lane in Rubery was closed for a number of hours this evening as armed officers raided a flat in a tower block.

The incident began at around 4pm this afternoon (Saturday 2nd February) when eyewitnesses reported numbers of police – including armed officers and dogs – surrounding Rushmore House.
Residents were requested to keep back from the scene or stay indoors until the situation was resolved. Two adjacent flats were entered by officers.
On Twitter, Birmingham Police confirmed that the raid took place: “after we received info suggesting a man wanted over a knife attack was inside. [They] entered Rushmore House at 5.30pm and searched several flats but the man was not found; enquiries continue to locate him.”
Eyewitnesses saw at least one man taken from the flats in handcuffs. The road reopened at around 6.30pm.
