West Midlands Police have released CCTV footage which reveals the shocking moment a stolen car crashed into a Kwik Fit store in January last year, narrowly missing a man standing at a nearby cash point.
The innocent bystander was using an ATM in Pershore Road, Cotteridge, in the early hours of Thursday 4th January 2018 when the Ford Fiesta ST careered past him at around 80mph, smashing into the Kwik Fit building.
The occupants of the car were all seriously injured. Driver Louis Moore, now 21, from Northfield suffered life-threatening injuries in the high speed collision. The three passengers – then aged 17, 18 and 19 – were also taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Moore had failed to stop for officers on Alcester Road South and drove the stolen Fiesta at speeds over 100mph in an attempt to get away, before smashing into the shop on Pershore Road.
Moore pleaded guilty to two charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and was jailed for two-and-a-half-years at Birmingham Crown Court last Wednesday (13 March).
