More Summer fun this weekend with Northfield Carnival & CoCoMAD

You’re spoilt for choice this weekend with these two fantastic free family events in south west Birmingham: Northfield Carnival & Cotteridge Park’s CoCoMAD festival – try and support both if you can!


Northfield Carnival is BACK for 2019 and, as always, there’s lots to see and do.

There’s a full arena with a variety of acts throughout the afternoon, a picnic area with children’s entertainment, live music, charity stalls, information stalls, a tea tent, arts activities, fair rides, zorb balls, ice cream, refreshments and more.

Claiming to be Birmingham’s oldest and longest running family day out, the Northfield Carnival will take place on Victoria Common between 12pm and 5pm on Saturday 6th July 2019

The theme of this year’s CoCoMAD Festival in Cotteridge Park is SCIENCE!

The 12pm opening will be an out of this world affair, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing – a lunar celebration with acrobatics from Circus Mash  and floats from Off our Trolley Arts.

There’ll be TONS of ‘sciency’ activities with BrumSciComm, Lapworth Museum and the Barber Institute of Fine Arts.

CoCoMad scientists will be wandering the park, ‘science busking’!

Circus Mash will be perform around the festival throughout the afternoon.

Birmingham Youth Circus will be performing their Project 42 in the circus field through the day.

With live music on the main stage from artists such as Kumari Se7en, The Style Council’s Anthony Harty, Independent Country, Levi Washington, Ocean Colour Scene’s Andy Bennett and TDK (The Don’t Knows).

You’ll also find acoustic sets at CoCoAcoustica in the glade by the skatepark – and you can perform too! Just turn up on the day and ask to book a slot.

CoCoLounge in the orchard provides a space to chill on some comfy furniture , with music from house band Raw Sax and a myriad of entertainment on stage. Got a party trick or talent? Ask the stage managers and you could perform too! sound system powered by bicycle – lend your legs to the cause!
