TWO men have been arrested in relation to this serious assault after surrendering themselves to police. The injured man (23) remains in a critical condition after suffering a serious head injury.
A West Midlands Police statement reads: “It’s understood the victim was in Alcester Road South, Maypole, at around 4.40pm when a row broke out with occupants of a passing car.
“The 23-year-old was assaulted by two men – who both later fled the scene – and left in the street having suffered a serious head injury.
The men – from Kings Heath (21) and Yardley Wood (22) respectively – have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in police custody.
Superintendent Ed Foster from Birmingham West Police Unit, said: “The victim suffered a serious head injury and an associated bleed on the brain, he is in a critical condition in hospital.
“We’re starting to build up a picture of what happened and what led up to the assault but we really need anyone who witnessed the altercation to get in touch.”

West Midlands Police are investigating after a man suffered a head injury in an assault in Maypole this afernoon (Thursday 19th September).
Officers were called to Alcester Road South, close to the junction with Hawkhurst Road, at around 4.40pm.
A spokesman said: “A man in his 20s was discovered with a head injury and has been taken to hospital in a serious condition.”
