A Longbridge-based company is calling on local schools, businesses and organisations to join in a drive to raise funds for Children in Need by supplying its scrumptious ice cream and services free, in exchange for donations to the charity.
Run by the Price family, Midlands Mr Whippy sells ice cream throughout south west Birmingham from its fleet of vans, as well as catering for events from fun days to weddings. Well known in the area, Price’s Square in Northfield town centre – where the Price’s ran a kiosk selling ice cream, sandwiches and more – was named after the family.
Chris Price is asking schools, larger businesses, nursing homes etc to register their interest in hosting a van for their ice cream giveaway in the run up to BBC Children in Need day on Friday 18th November.
The company will provide the vans and the ice cream in exchange for donations to the popular charity which supports children across the UK.
Chris said: “Our aim is to get as many schools, companies and healthcare services to join us in raising as much money as possible to help children and families less fortunate.”
A self service table full of all kinds of toppings will also be available to allow participants to personalise their ices.
It is suggested that participants donate £1.50 per ice cream, but Chris understands some people may have their own difficulties and stresses that any amount will help.
He said: “We understand that some people themselves have financial difficulties, so we welcome all donations, lesser or greater than suggested. Any amount will go towards helping children gain a brighter, prosperous future.”
