West Midlands Police have made a second arrest in relation to a street assault in Maypole last week, following which a 23 year old man sadly died. The teen has been charged with murder.

Amaan Momand was attacked after a row in the street in Alcester Road South just before 5pm on Thursday (19th September). He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but never regained consciousness and was sadly pronounced dead on Sunday. A post mortem examination has shown that he died from a head injury.
Teen charged with murder
The 17 year old boy from Yardley – who by law cannot be named due to his age – was arrested at an address in Handsworth on Sunday and has now been charged with Amaan’s murder.
Previous arrest
A second man, 21 year old Jamie Taylor from Kings Heath, was remanded in custody on Saturday after appearing at Birmingham Magistrates Court charged with wounding after handing himself in to police on Friday.
Officers say Taylor’s charge will be reviewed in due course and appealed for anyone who has not yet contacted them with information to do so.
‘Determined to get justice’
Detective Inspector Michelle Allen said: “The assault happened before 5pm on Thursday 19 September; I’m still appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch if they’ve not already spoken to police.
“We’re determined to get justice for Mr Momand and his family.”
