A man has been rearrested and remanded in custody in relation to a stabbing in Frankley earlier this year, following a police appeal to locate him.

Mark Powell is charged with stabbing an 18 year old lad in High Timbers, off Ormond Road, on 13th January. Following an argument, the teen suffered two stab wounds to his torso.

Powell was arrested on 20th March and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

An appeal was launched to find him after Powell failed to appear in court when due this month.

Following the appeal West Midlands Police received information suggesting Powell was at an address in Handsworth − and on Saturday (21st Sept) he was recaptured.

He was put back before the courts and has now been remanded into prison ahead of a crown court appearance on 21 October.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Darren Lennox, said: “We had a good response to our appeal for information and one call in-particular led directly to Powell’s arrest.

“My thanks go to the person who provided the information − it’s meant that a man accused of a very serious offence is again in custody and will face trial.”

Detectives also suspect Powell was responsible for an attempted burglary in Woodgate Lane, Woodgate, on 4th August.
