A progressive Kings Norton school – which supports young people with learning difficulties – has announced a new name which reflects a positive new direction for the school.

New Ways School, which opened in September 2018 as Fairways, sits in a semi-rural location in Kings Norton. The Keys Group school provides locally based, easily accessible, high quality learning experiences to pupils aged 11 – 17 with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties.

The renaming encompasses the ethos of the school’s unique and extremely successful modern therapeutic approach to school life, and pupils at the school agreed that ‘New Ways’ was the perfect name.

Headteacher Michelle Woodward said: “We are extremely excited to announce our name change which represents our desire to always be an innovative and progressive school environment.

“Here at New Ways, we recognise the importance of being forward thinking and continually updating our school in order to keep up with pupils’ changing needs. We strive to support and guide our pupils to the best of our ability, enabling them to reach their full potential.”

Rated Good by Ofsted just 5 months after opening, New Ways School fully embraces and lives the award-winning Keys Group’s EPIC values: Excellence, Passion, Integrity and Caring.

Managing Director of Education at Keys Group, Nicola Kelly, said: “I’m delighted to see New Ways continuously evolving. The entire team is dedicated to producing the most effective service for its pupils and we believe they truly excel in this.

“New Ways embodies the Keys Group’s values and I look forward to seeing its further success in the upcoming academic years”.

Keys Group were delighted to have been shortlisted as finalists in the prestigious LaingBuisson Awards this year. The Awards recognise excellence in the health and social care sector. The group are finalists for the Children’s Services Award, which celebrates excellence in the delivery of children’s services in a vast range of settings, from fostering to schools.
