Locals are invited to have memorial stars for lost loved ones added to popular Tree of Light ahead of a virtual remembrance service this Sunday (6th December)
The annual event gives the local community an opportunity to celebrate the lives of loved ones lost through a remembrance service and chance to place a memorial star on the Morton’s Tree of Light.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, rather than gathering together, this year’s pre-recorded service will be available to view online from Sunday morning (6th December 2020).
Mortons welcome members of the community to write a message on a memorial star for those they have lost. The stars will be placed on the Tree of Light during the service.
Michael Smith and his children Martha and Toby were invited to begin proceedings by placing a memorial star on the Tree of Light in honour of their beloved wife and mother Christine, who sadly passed in September aged just 41.
“After a tough year for us all, it was so important for us to continue with our annual Tree of Light service. We want to provide solace to the community, by paying tribute to the loved ones they have lost. It’s a chance for us all to join together as we share in each other’s grief and comfort one another,” says Sarah Case, managing director, Mortons Funeral Directors.
Over the last 12 years, the Tree of Light service has raised over £12,000 for charity. Although there is no charge for placing a star, anyone wishing to make a contribution is asked to donate to Mortons’ fundraiser for mental health support charity MIND. Donate online
Mortons will also be making a donation to the Salvation Army, Droitwich Corps, as a small token of gratitude for being part of the Tree of Light Remembrance Service.
The service will be available to download and view online from Sunday 06th December 2020 on Mortons’ website.
