A 30 year old man was hit by the getaway car of thieves as he tried to prevent them from stealing tools  from his van in a Rubery car park yesterday evening (Sunday 26th November).

It was reported to West Midlands Police that, at around 6.30pm as the man was at the Brewers Fayre Great Park pub in Ashbrook Drive for a meal, he was alerted to someone going through his van in the car park.

The man ran outside to confront the man, who ran to a light coloured Audi, parked next to his van.

The victim attempted to block the Audi but was hit with the car, suffering injuries to his eye, arm and face. He was checked over by West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics and thankfully discharged at the scene.

The three occupants of the Audi managed to get away with tools from the van – reported to be Stihl gardening tools.

Anyone who sees a light coloured Audi with a smashed windscreen, sees Stihl garden tools for sale or who has any other information is asked to call police on 101, quoting 20BW/256278X/17. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or visit www.crimestoppers-uk.org
