Four people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after the car they were travelling in collided with a building in Cotteridge in the early hours of this morning (Thursday 4th January).
The collision happened at around 1.30am, following a short pursuit involving an unmarked police car, after the blue Ford Fiesta – believed to have been stolen – had failed to stop for police.
The driver, 20, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. The three passengers – aged 17, 18 and 19 – were also taken to hospital where they are being treated for serious injuries.
Pershore Road was closed between Holly Road and Watford Road for around 6 hours while collision investigators examined the scene.
As is normal procedure in a collision where a police vehicle is involved, the incident has been reported West Midlands Police’s Professional Standards Department has been informed as well as the IPCC.
