A local amusement arcade has opened a new café bar and is soon to launch an indoor Crazy Golf course.
Fletchers Arcade is a family owned business which has traded at Lickey Road, Rednal since 1920, when visitors to the Lickey Hills would stream from the nearby tram terminus in their thousands.
Their new ‘Barcade’ style café bar gives visitors to the amusement complex a chance to relax with a carefully selected craft beer or wine, a coffee or a snack.
Fletcher’s have approached the Barcade (bar with retro arcade games) trend from a different angle – their arcade came first and is now joined by a bar!
The bar is both modern and stylish, while much tribute is paid to the history of the venue. Current owner Joe “Fletch” is the fourth generation of Fletcher’s to run the arcade. The new bar is named ‘Joe Joe Jims’ after Joe’s Great Grandfather Joe, Grandfather Joe and father Jim!
You will find ‘Arcade Memorabilia’, Old Games and Signs and Lickey Hills Tram Memorabilia, including an original iron tramline at the bar.
Just step through to Fetcher’s Arcade to enjoy retro video games and cash slots.
The arcade and bar has a strict over 18s policy. Joe explained: “In 2003 we changed with the times and made Fletchers Arcade an Adult Only style of Arcade.. although we kept some of the best video games and pushers, it was the evolving Live Cash Slots market that our customers came to play instead of the On-Line varieties that even then were proving to be not as much fun, rewarding or safe!”
The next new venture for Fletcher’s is a Crazy Crazy (yes, there’s an extra crazy!) Golf inside the arcade – to be finished by February! We can’t wait to see that, but apparently it’s all top secret…..!
Fletcher’s Arcade & Joe Joe Jims Café Bar is at 444 Lickey Rd, Cofton Hackett B45 8UU and is open Monday to Friday 12pm-11pm, Saturday and Sunday 11am-11pm
