As part of the regeneration of the Three Estates in Kings Norton, discount food retailer Aldi is consulting on plans for a new store just off Redditch Road.
Regeneration
In 2015, outline planning permission was granted for a supermarket to the west of Ark Rose Primary Academy as part of a regeneration plan which will see over 1000 new homes built on the Pool Farm and Primrose Hill estates.
Aldi’s plans are in the early stages and they would like to know what local residents and stakeholders think before progressing.
Job creation

The development of the store would create around 40 new jobs in store, as well as additional employment during construction, and supply chain opportunities.
A spokesperson for Aldi said: “We’re delighted to announce our proposals […] We know there is a strong demand for a new store in the area, and this is an excellent site that is perfectly suited to allow convenient access for many people in Kings Norton.
“We would like to encourage people to come along to the public exhibition on the 18th January, to find out more about the proposal, talk to the project team, and provide us with their feedback.”
Alex Aitken, Labour’s candidate for Kings Norton North in this year’s forthcoming council election, said residents should make their views known. He said: “Many residents have spoken to me about what is going to happen on this site – and, rightly, they want to make sure that any development is of benefit to the local area.
“I’d urge all local residents to voice their opinion on the potential new Aldi by attending the public exhibition and making their voices heard. Kings Norton is our home so it’s important to hear the thoughts and ideas of local people when a new addition is in the pipeline. This way it can continue being a home that we can all be proud of.”
