Lorry driver in serious condition after vehicle crashes into Halesowen home

A lorry driver was rushed to hospital in a serious condition after his vehicle crashed into a Halesowen home this morning (Monday 22nd January).

The incident happened in Carters Lane, close to the junction of Royal Oak Road just before 10am. The road remained closed as of 2pm.

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) said that 2 ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attended the scene where they found they driver to be in cardiac arrest. It is believed he may have suffered a medical incident prior to the accident.

A WMAS spokesman said: “Bystanders told staff that it appeared the man had suffered a medical episode at the wheel prior to the collision. An off-duty fire officer was already performing CPR which ambulance staff took over as well as administering advanced life support.”

The man was conveyed to hospital in a serious condition by land ambulance, along with crew from the air ambulance to assist in his treatment.

West Midlands Fire service confirmed their crews were in attendance, and their Technical Rescue team was on scene to make the scene safe and Carters Lane remained closed while work was carried out.

West Midlands Police confirmed that no-one from inside the house was injured.
