Trains on the Cross City South line were cancelled for a time this afternoon, while emergency services dealt with an incident at Selly Oak Station.
British Transport Police confirmed that they were called at around 2pm to find a person had been struck by a train and sadly died at the scene.
A spokesman said: “We’re now working to identify them and inform their next of kin. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
Trains recommenced at around 3.45pm but delays were expected for some time.
Our thoughts are with the deceased’s family and friends and all those affected. RIP
