A third application to add crematorium facilities to a Rubery cemetery has been REFUSED by Bromsgrove District Council this evening (Monday 5th March).

Councillors Peter McDonald (Rubery North), Andy Cartwirght (Longbridge) and Carole Griffiths (Longbridge) with local residents after the planning meeting

Developers of the planned Waseley Hills Cemetery had submitted plans to Bromsgrove District Council in a third attempt to get permission for a crematorium at the Rubery green belt site – despite having had a previous appeal quashed by the government’s Planning Inspectorate.

Many neighbouring residents and local politicians opposed this and previous applications.

Cllr Carole Griffiths (Longbridge) said: “Great to see that Bromsgrove Councillors on planning refused the go ahead going against the planning officer’s suggested approval. Cllr Andy Cartwright spoke at the meeting, along with Cllr Peter McDonald and residents from both sides of the border. I also went along to speak to and support local residents.”
