[UPDATED] Van crashes into Catshill pub after cyclist knocked from bike in Rubery

Three men were arrested on drink/drug driving offences after the van they were travelling in crashed into the front of a Catshill pub – shortly after knocking a cyclist off his bike in Rubery yesterday evening (Wednesday 25th April). 

The cyclist was travelling on the A38 towards Lydiate Ash when he was knocked from his bike at around 7.10pm. Fortunately, he suffered minor injuries to his arm and leg and attended hospital as a precaution.

The van failed to stop at the scene and continued towards Bromsgrove before crashing into the front of The Crown Inn at Catshill.

Three men were arrested on various charges:

  • 18 year old man from Bromsgrove – suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink/drugs and failing to stop
  • 18 year old man from Stourport – suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink/drugs
  • 47 year old man from Bromsgrove – suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink/drugs and criminal damage.

All three are remained in police custody today.

Anyone who witnessed either collision or who may have seen the van – a white Ford Transit – being driven along the A38 early yesterday evening, is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 0672S of 25th April 2018 (Rubery) or 0663S of 25th April 2018 (Catshill).
