UPDATE 10.40pm: West Midlands Police have arrested three teenagers this evening in relation to a serious assault on a 15 year old girl in Weoley Castle last night [see full report below].
One boy and two girls, aged 14 to 16 years are in custody after being arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police have appealed for video footage of the incident not to be shared and the suspected offenders not to be named on social media as criminal proceedings are now underway.
Detective Sergeant Richard Mayne said: “We’re examining social media video of the assault, and I’d urge people not to share that footage or speculate about the identities of those involved, as criminal proceedings are now active.”

West Midlands Police are investigating a serious assault on a teenage girl by a group of young people in Weoley Castle yesterday (Wednesday 25th April).
The incident happened at around 7pm in Inglemere Grove, just off Shenley Lane.
A spokesperson for the force confirmed: “We are currently investigating a serious assault on a 15-year-old girl, which happened on Inglemere Grove.”
Upsetting mobile phone footage of the assault has been widely shared on social media. Detectives investigating the case are examining the footage and are in the process of identifying the offenders.
The spokesperson urged people not to share the video, saying: “To protect the victim from further distress, we’d ask people not to share the video.
