Firefighters tackled a huge fire on public land at the former Rubery Quarry site in Rubery this afternoon (Tuesday 26th June).
West Midlands Fire Service received several 999 calls from around 1.45pm today after a large fire quickly developed in the the dry brush and grassland on the site.
Four engines from Northfield, Kings Norton and Woodgate fire stations dealt with the fire which was reported as around 1200m x 100m.
Using main jets, a hose reel and handheld beaters firefighters quickly tackled the fire.
Cock Hill Lane was closed for around 2 hours.
Firefighters, including one truck, attended a smaller fire at the site just yesterday.
