A local MP is inviting young people in his constituency to get engaged by offering them ‘Pizza & Politics’.
Selly Oak MP Steve Mccabe (Labour) is asking anyone aged 26 or under who lives in the Selly Oak constituency to pop along to share their views on what matters to them while enjoying pizza donated by Papa Johns in Selly Oak.
The move is part of an ongoing attempt to engage young people and make sure their views are considered.
He said: “I know many young people often feel that politicians don’t understand the issues that matter most to them and that decisions are taken for them rather than with them. This is why I have launched a yearlong conversation with young people in Selly Oak constituency, Your Future, Your Say. To kick it off I am looking forward to my first ‘Pizza & Politics’ event today.
“If you are 26 or younger and live in Selly Oak constituency please come along for a slice of pizza and an informal chat about politics. I want to know how you feel about crime, about opportunities to get a good job or apprenticeship, safety on public transport and anything else you want to talk about!”
The first Politics & Pizza event is between 6pm and 8pm tonight (Wednesday 29th August) at Stirchley Community Church, 58 Hazelwell St B30 2JS
