West Midlands Police have launched an appeal for information after an incident at an Edgbaston pub in which a man was stabbed yesterday evening (Saturday 15th September).

The incident happened at The Edgbaston Tap in Hollies Croft, just off the Pershore Road close to the Edgbaston Road junction.

Police say that the 35 year old man was in the pub when he was attacked at around 8pm.

A police spokesman said: “The victim was stabbed four times and taken to hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

“Officers are working to identify the attacker, who fled the scene, and are examining CCTV and speaking to witnesses.”

The spokesman said that, while the motive for the attack is not yet clear, the incident was in no way connected to the cricket that was taking place at the neighbouring Edgbaston Stadium.

Anyone with information is asked to contact West Midlands Police on Live Chat at www.west-midlands.police.uk (8am – midnight) or to call 101 any time. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or visit www.crimestoppers-uk.org
