An emergency closure of a bridge in Wychall Road will come into effect this evening (Wednesday 19th September) – and the closure could remain in effect for months.
As a result of a recent inspection of the footbridge, Birmingham City Council contractors have had to put an emergency closure in place with immediate effect. This is to: “ensure the safety of both pedestrians, and the rail lines beneath the structure.”
It is expected that the bridge could be closed for some months while repair works and re-inspections take place.
What will this mean for you?
- Motorised vehicles: Wychall Road will be CLOSED to all motorised vehicles. A diversion will be in place via Middlemore Road, Church Hill and Woodland Road.
- Pedestrians & cyclists: With the footbridge CLOSED and traffic diverted from Wychall Lane, pedestrians and cyclists will use the Wychall Road road bridge as access across the railway.
