Two teenagers were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary yesterday, after being caught out by police officers hiding in the area close to their failed crime.
A neighbour reported a group of lads acting suspiciously outside a property in Somerdale Road, Bournville at around 11pm on Sunday 19th November. The eagle-eyed neighbour had disturbed the youths, who made off empty handed.
After attending the property and obtaining a description, response officers from West Midlands Police decided to “hide” in a nearby road in an attempt to catch out the group of would-be thieves.
Within 20 minutes, the officers spotted the offenders and, following a short chase on foot, they were arrested in Innage Road.
The lads – aged just 14 and 17 years – were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary and remain in police custody this afternoon (Monday 20th November).
Birmingham South Response Team (@BSResponse) tweeted: “Two male juveniles arrested from Innage Rd, Bournville on suspicion of a lock snapping burglary committed moments earlier in Northfield. Both are prolific offenders for similar offences, one already on Court bail awaiting sentence.”
