Leading with the tweet: “In the words of the Four Seasons, “Oh what a night!”, West Midlands Police response officers proudly announced on Twitter this morning that they had made 4 arrests following 3 different pursuits in South West Birmingham during last night’s shift (Sunday 17th – Monday 18th June).
Two arrested after stolen motorbike found in flat
In the first incident, at around 11pm on Sunday, a motorbike previously stolen from Billesley was spotted on Ingoldsby Road in Northfield and followed Shelley Tower in nearby Overbury Road.
Following a search and support from the National Police Air Support (NSPAS) helicopter, the motorbike was traced to a flat and recovered. Two suspects were arrested.
Cloned car driven on three wheels after police use stinger
Moments later, officers deployed a stinger to stop a suspect vehicle – which turned out to be a cloned car – in Wychall Road, Northfield. However, the driver kept going and drove on three wheels through Kings Norton at speeds up to 70 miles per hour. Officers kept up the chase, before the vehicle finally crashed into railings on Vicarage Road in Kings Heath, opposite the Red Lion pub. The 17 year old male driver was arrested.
Stolen car used in knife crime recovered
Soon afterwards, officers spotted a car which was used during the robbery of a young victim at knife point on Sunday. The car itself – a Citroen C5 – was stolen from Honeycombe Way in Northfield on Saturday.
The driver – a 15 year old boy – made off but was detained in Grange Farm Drive, Kings Norton after officers used Pava spray following a footchase. A knife was also recovered and the teen was arrested on suspicion of robbery, burglary and possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in custody today.
